Where’s the Holy Spirit? · 2 Comments · Jun 20, 2008 · Old Posts ·

As I mentioned last week, Francis Chan really worked our whole team with his talk at Willow Creek. So today we continued our conversation as a team.

After some pancakes and bacon, prayed for a while and then talked about what the talked did in each of us. For me personally, it really spoke more to my own spiritual life than a corporate thing. Basically, I felt like there are things in my life (discipline, sarcasm, etc) that if I allowed God to change and I opened my hands in full surrender, then there is no way I could get the glory…only God.

Ultimately, as a team, we realized that we can want more and talk about more of God and desire more, but unless we are each individually praying to that end and daily for our services and congregation, then we can desire all we want, but not expect God to have to show up. We must pray to that end.

My questions for you are these:

1. Are you praying daily for your service, church, volunteers, etc.?

2. What are the areas of your life that if God used his Holy Spirit to change, would only God get the glory?

Let us know so we can pray to that end.

You Should Watch This Video · 5 Comments · Jun 18, 2008 · Old Posts ·

This is a church in Amarillo, TX called Hillside Church. Diane sent me the link to them and I finally got around to watching it. It’s called cardboard testimonies. What is so interesting is the reason for the illustration. You have to watch until the end to see why this is so powerful. Carrie and I cried watching it. Great job Hillside.

Our team had an incredible time hanging out in the big city of Chicago this week. It was really refreshing for all of us to just get to spend some time together and have great conversations about our church and division. The thing we keep going around about was from Francis Chan’s talk in the last session. Basically, what are the things in your services or church or life that could only be the Holy Spirit and not you? ouch.

Here are some pics from the week.

Yowzers!!!  It was measuring over 100 today at times.  When the tourney truly starts tomorrow, the 36 holes we will play will be a true survival of the fittest.  It is always that guys that can keep up a little energy through the end in the heat will have the inside track to win on Sunday.  Great times though.  Headed out for dinner tonight and then some hangout time tonight.
