Green Tip #6 · May 16, 2008 · Old Posts

Here is the latest little nugget from David Bach about your driving habits and saving money (which we could all use these days).

Maintenance Matters-

-Keep your tires properly inflated

Having your tires inflated to the right pressure can increase your mpg by up to 3 percent, saving you up to 10 per gallon of fuel.

-Don’t haul around unnecessary weight

What are you storing in your trunk? Unnecessary cargo weighs down your car and reduces your mpg.

-Get a tune up

Installing a clear air filter protects your engine and can increase your fuel economy by up to 10%, which translates to as much as 32 cents per gallon.

-Don’t drive like a maniac

Aggressive acceleration and braking can reduce your highway mileage by a third (wow!). Driving over 60 mph can cost you 20 cents per gallon of gas for every 5 mph increase.

Interesting stuff huh?

Which one of these do you think you can do to save some money?
